Monica Petzal appointed new Trustee at Curwen

Monica Petzal

We are delighted to announce that Monica Petzal has joined our Board of Trustees. Monica is an artist printmaker, curator and writer. She is the owner of the Printroom Studio which was a ‘live’ gallery from 2006 to 2023 and which now exists online. Educated at Sussex University, the Royal College of Art and Camberwell, Monica has exhibited widely, including two major museum exhibitions,The Herbert Museum in Coventry 2015 and Leicester New Walk Museum in 2020. Her practice focuses on her German Jewish heritage and issues of history and memory. Monica has a particular interest in recently graduated and women printmakers, many of whom are shown in her gallery and in other exhibitions she has curated, including ‘Process and Innovation, British Printmaking Japan’ at the Kyoto Museum.

Thanks to a generous gift from Monica, we were recently able to fund moving two presses belonging to our founder Stanley Jones and house them permanently at the Curwen Print Study Centre for all to use. We are extremely grateful to Monica and look forward to working with her and have her supporting the Print Study Centre's future.
