Sheila Ingham was a British painter and printmaker associated with the neo-Romantic tradition in post-war British art. Born in Yorkshire, she studied at Chelsea School of Art and later at the Slade School, developing a style characterised by dreamlike landscapes, symbolic imagery, and finely observed natural forms. Her work often combines elements of fantasy and memory, creating atmospheric compositions that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. Ingham exhibited widely during the 1950s and 1960s and was closely connected with a circle of artists that included Robert Colquhoun and Robert MacBryde. Although less widely known today, her work has gained renewed attention for its distinctive vision and lyrical treatment of landscape and place.
