Oliffe Richmond

Oliffe Richmond was an Australian-born British sculptor and printmaker who worked in Britain during the post-war period. He worked as assistant to Henry Moore in the late 1940s and intermittently in the early 1950s alongside the sculptor Anthony Caro. He later taught at Chelsea School of Art. Primarily known as a sculptor, Richmond’s work reflected the influence of modernist British sculpture during a period of major experimentation in form and material. His connections with Moore and Caro place him within an important generation of post-war sculptors working in Britain.
