HM King Charles III Windsor

King Charles III is a British patron of the arts, watercolour painter, and printmaker whose artistic practice has focused primarily on landscape and architectural subjects. He began exhibiting his watercolours publicly during the 1970s, often depicting the British countryside, historic buildings, and scenes from his travels. Alongside painting, Charles explored printmaking during the 1990s through collaborations with Stanley Jones at Curwen Studio and Curwen Chilford Prints. Working in lithography, he produced a small number of editions that translated the atmospheric qualities of his watercolours into print. These projects reflected Curwen’s continuing role as a centre for artist-led lithography and Stanley Jones’s collaborative approach to working with artists from a wide range of backgrounds. The Curwen archive includes works from this period of royal printmaking activity, documenting an unusual and historically significant chapter in the Studio’s later history.
