Evening Repeat Pattern Printmaking on Textiles

Split over four sessions the course will guide you through the process of designing and printing a two colour repeat print to create your own screen-printed fabric. Students will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to turn their designs into a repeating pattern. Using paper stencils and photo emulsion to transfer the designs onto the screens, students will print their fabrics in multiple colours in the studio. The course aims to demonstrate repeat printing techniques that can be replicated in a home environment.
Course Structure
• Week 1 - Design session. Come armed with ideas for your print. Create your repeat print using drawings, photographic images, simple shapes, text. You can also use cut lino tiles. Separate the colour layer in preparation for stencil making.
• Week 2 - Stencil making and colour mixing. Screen preparation, coating with emulsion and exposing the stencils onto the screen. Deciding on the colour scheme for your fabric and mixing the colours.
• Week 3 - Preparing the fabric and marking registration points. Printing the first colour of your design using screens on table tops.
• Week 4 - Printing the second colour. Registering the second layer of the design. Trouble shooting!
Experience level
Suitable for those with previous screen-printing experience or as a follow on to the Introduction to Screen courses.

Image preparation notes will be sent 2 weeks prior to the course date. Fabric not supplied.

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received.
If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date.
Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre. Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.
For CPSC Certificate course
Payment for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this payment has been received. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due at the end of the previous term. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due before the first day of each term.
If for any reason prior to the commencement of the course you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date. Once you start the course on Term 1 you have committed to all 3 terms. Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre.
Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.
