Collagraphs Reinvented

Collagraph is a technique that relies upon the surface quality of different materials glued onto a printing plate to produce an image. Marks can also be cut and scored into the plate and it can be printed as a relief or intaglio image or as a viscosity print. On this two day course you will design, construct and create both relief and intaglio prints from your Collagraph plates. You will use found objects, carborundum and a variety of textured materials when creating your collagraph plates. You will the learn the different inking techniques for intaglio and relief plates and experiment with opaque and transparent inks. You will use the presses to print the plates and then develop your images by cutting and shaping the plates, re-inventing them to produce different prints from the same plate.
